In 2012, I went to a community cleanup time at our community garden. It was a really good day, and I remember having a good time getting the garden ready. I live in a community called Alberta Avenue, a “bad area” of the city, but they are trying to get better with revitalization efforts and more.
As I was perusing my Audioboo account, I came upon my travels on the LRT here in Edmonton. LRT means Light Rail Transit, or some people call it Light Rapid Transit. Both are correct; Light Rail Transit uses lighter rails than regular rail, and they don’t have the third rail doesn’t exist; the electricity comes from overhead. I’m not a specialist in this, but the reason I chose this piece is that it’s underground, and that it rounds that corner. It has that distinct sound.
Taking a trip on the LRT is usually a treat because I only use it once every three or so months, and usually only to see the doctor or do some errand. The odd time I use it to go to the Paint Spot, one of my favorite art stores.
I’m like the others in our city who travel on the LRT then, part of the “rat race.” I don’t go out of my community much, just because my volunteering and household duties take up most of my time. When I do, though, I feel like I’m a part of the world, at least more of a part of the world. Unfortunately, since winter has set in here in Edmonton, I get out even less due to the snow and ice, but the LRT still goes on beneath our city’s streets, and now, above them.
I hope that gives you a sense of how I travel. Next time I hope to have a bus segment for you. Until then, may your journeys be safe ones. Take care, and God bless you.
Hi everyone. Welcome to my first boosound here at wordpress. Once again, I have to mention that this recording is also on Audioboo.fm, an online social community dedicated to sound or audio blogging. It’s a wonderful community, and I encourage you to try it out.
I remember going out for this date with my husband. It was colder then, and we were both starting out in Audioboo. I can’t believe that was almost a half year ago. I have made so many friends since then.
Some people may ask, “How can you make friends when you’re recording your voice online?” Well, in this case it’s almost better than facebook or twitter. You actually get to hear what people sound like, and what people are actually like in real life , and in more than just a one or two sentence statuses. It’s truly wonderful. That’s why I created the boosounds account. I can take my friends, (yes, even you too if you want), on the road with me. My friends were with us in spirit and in sound, even though they weren’t there.
Enjoy the recording, and remember, you can hear current audioboos by going to http://audioboo.fm/boosounds.
May your journeys be safe ones; take care, and God bless.
A few things have happened since I posted. I found out that Sound Cloud allows postings to Word Press. So, here’s what I’m going to do. I am going to download the items and then upload them to soundcloud, or see if they can be forwarded. I’m hoping to have the first one uploaded here this week.
So, until then, safe journeys wherever your day takes you, and God bless.
Welcome once again to Boosounds. For the next few posts, I will be focusing on a playlist called “Out and About”. These boos are about regular day-to-day travels in Edmonton./ There are rides on the bus, the LRT, times with my husband at restaurants, and more. In these boos,we went to Tony Roma’s McDonalds, and the Oriental Noodle House. I hope to put more on that playlist as the year goes on. Here’s the playlist to tantalize you until I’m ready to select where to start. Enjoy!
Unfortunately, I can’t embed the items here, so I will have to rely on links. I apologize for any inconvenience. Here’s the link. http://audioboo.fm/users/211869/playlists/2358-out-and-about
Greetings. Welcome to Boosounds. Boosounds is a takeoff of an audio blog I have at Audioboo.fm. Boosounds is a blog about things going on in my world, where I travel, the cooking I do, and more. I plan on featuring some of them here on WordPress, and digging deeper into some of the subjects. There might also be interviews of people, but for now, I have done some cooking, traveling, and more.
My name is Michelle, and I will be your guide through Boosounds. If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to make a comment. I will try to make this a weekly feature, and I hope you enjoy what you hear.
